PRIVACY

How we use the information you give us.

HedgeHacks collects only what we need to run a free community hackathon and answer inquiries.

Last updated 5 October 2026. This is our current practice, not a substitute for independent legal advice.

Who we are

HedgeHacks is a community hackathon project. Contact us at hedgehack.org@gmail.com. Mailing address will be published when a venue is confirmed.

These pages describe current practice for a U.S. community hackathon. Venue, governing law, and a lawyer-reviewed version are still TBA.

What we collect

Accounts and applications: email and password (handled by Supabase Auth), name, phone, date of birth, school details, experience answers, optional resume (PDF), dietary and accessibility notes, emergency contact, and the agreements you check.

Inquiries and waitlist: name, email, city or organization, and the optional message you send.

We do not ask for Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or payment cards. Please do not send medical records or other sensitive details we have not asked for.

Why we collect it

To create your account, review applications, plan food and access, contact you about the event, and reply to host or partner inquiries. Optional marketing email is off unless you opt in. Optional sponsor recruiting share is off unless you opt in on the application.

Where it is stored

Applications and resumes go to a private Supabase project (Postgres and a private storage bucket). Inquiry forms use the existing site database. Resumes are not public URLs.

Who can see it

You can read your own application. Organizers can review applications to make decisions. We do not sell personal information. We do not publish a public applicant directory.

Cookies and third parties

Sign-in uses essential authentication cookies from Supabase. We do not run advertising or analytics pixels. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. See the cookie policy.

How long we keep it

We keep application and inquiry records for organizing this event and following up about future HedgeHacks events if you opted in. Email hedgehack.org@gmail.com to ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion.

Children

If you will be under 18 at the event, we ask for that so we can send a parent or guardian consent form if you are accepted. Do not create an account for a young child without a parent or guardian.
